'South Africans Are Full of Anger' - President Jacob Zuma

In the wake of the xenophobic attacks which happened over the last few weeks in South Africa, the country's president Jacob Zuma has said South Africans are full of anger.

Speaking at the Union Buildings in Pretoria during a Freedom Day event, Zuma called on South Africans to reflect on the progress made over the past 21 years, adding that there were underlying issues affecting South Africans which must be addressed.

According to him,

“We have to address the underlying causes of violence and tension which is the legacy of poverty, unemployment and inequality in our country and our continent.”
He further said the Mozambican man who was killed inAlexandra two weeks ago was an illegal immigrant using a false name. He said:

“Emmanuel Josias, who was identified by the media as Emmanuel Sithole, he was killed during a careless robbery in Alexandra township.”
At least 7 people were killed in the latest wave of xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
