DEAR LADIES: 11 Signs You’re WIFE Material

Image
In the 1950s, what constituted “wife material” was pretty basic compared to how it is now. “Perfect” wives were women who stayed home to take care of the kids, keep the house in order, and have dinner ready promptly at 6PM when her husband walked through the door. Women’s aspirations became second to fulfilling their “wifely duties.” It sounds terribly depressing, to be honest. But, being that it’s 2015, so much has changed since then. What makes a woman a wife isn’t about being docile, submissive, and letting the man run the show. Thanks to the Women’s Movement, there is an equality that makes both men want to find their partner and not their, well, maid. We talked to 11 men about what makes a woman “wife material.” This is what they had to tell us. 1. You love in equal measure. “It just boils down to love and attraction. I don’t mean any kind of romantic ideal, but like, proper love, where you love them so much that even when you’re mid-argument and super angry you still make

God has hand in Nigeria’s affairs — Pastor Adeboye

Image
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has described mercy of God as one of the major reasons the country has not witnessed another civil war amid the challenges confronting Nigeria. Adeboye, who spoke during a special programme for the country, held under the theme, ‘Free Indeed,’ at the national headquarters of the RCCG in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, said that despite the frustrating circumstances in Nigeria, the country is still united due to God’s grace. The cleric said it was possible for a country to witness freedom while its citizens would still be in bondage. His words: “It is possible for a country to be free, but its citizens are not. Nigeria has been free for 55 years, but many of us are not free. If not for God’s intervention, Nigeria would have been in another civil war. Without His intervention in this land, we would not be experiencing peace. We should keep praying for His peace to reign. “We should also keep p

N20 Billion assets suit: Kashamu, NDLEA get new date

Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos will on November 10 ‎rule on whether to disqualify himself from adjudicating a suit filed by Senator Buruji Kashamu. Kashamu is praying the court to restrain the Federal Government from seizing his property worth N20 billion over alleged drug trafficking offences. He sought an order of perpetual injunction restraining the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) from taking possession of his property. Justice Buba had earlier restrained the NDLEA from arresting or extraditing Kashamu to the United States, where he is allegedly wanted. But NDLEA asked the judge to hands off the case.‎ It said since Justice Buba, on June 23, reaffirmed a May 27 order by Justice Okon Abang of the same court stopping Kashamu’s arrest, he might not be fair in the case. The NDLEA lawyer, Mr. J. N. Sunday, who asked the court to vacate the restraining order, claimed the injunction amounted to preventi

9 vehicles involved in multiple crash on Abuja Airport Road

About nine vehicles were involved in a multiple road accident a few metres away from the Military Cemetary on the Airport Road, Abuja, on Tuesday. NAN reports that the accident was caused by a tipper driver whose vehicle apparently experienced break failure. “I think the tipper failed break and the driver could not control it again,’’ Alhaji Ahmed Rufai, who was with the driver when the accident occurred, said. Rufai said the driver of the tipper with registration number, YAB 925 YT, took to his hails on seeing the impact of the accident. A police officer, Sgt. Musa Abdulmumini from the Kuje Division of the FCT Police Command who spoke with NAN, said no life was lost. He, however, added that Rufai would be kept in Police custody until he produced the run-away tipper driver, whom he gave his name simply as Idris. According to the Police officer, Rufai may be the driver of the tipper but may not want to own up, for fear of being lynched. He said that though no life was lost, the level of
